JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - The Jamestown Ironmen scored a late first period goal, then added two more in both the second and third, en route to a five-goal lead and eventual 5-1 triumph over the Traverse City North Stars in the opening game of a three-day series at Jamestown Savings Bank Arena in Western New York.

Former North Stars forward Eric Fragoso opened the scoring with 1:37 left in the first, and capped the Jamestown parade with an unassisted marker at 6:23 of the final frame before Traverse City (14-8-4) got on the board. Chris Waterstreet (Northville, MI/TC North Stars NAHL) converted a power play with 3:54 to play on assists from Alexander Taulien (Crystal Lake, IL/TC North Stars NAHL) and Seth Adams (Big Rapids, MI/Big Rapids HS/Ferris State).

Kyle Laslo (Fenton, MI/Osoyoos KIJHL) and Zach Nagelvoort (Holland, MI/Kalamazoo NAHL) shared time in the Stars' net, combining for 32 saves.

The teams will ring in the new year on Saturday evening in Jamestown, dropping the puck at 7:05 p.m. on the second game of the series, with a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee capping the set.
