Denver Cutthroats Take Game One in Second Round

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Arizona Sundogs for the first game in the Conference Finals best-of-seven series on Friday, April 18 at the Denver Coliseum. The Cutthroats held the Sundogs to a single goal to take the game 2-1.

Following a scoreless opening frame, J.P. Chabot (Troy Schwab, Robin Soudek) lit up the red light to give the Denver Cutthroats a 1-0 lead over the Arizona Sundogs early in the second period. Just four minutes later, A.J. Gale (Garett Bembridge, Schwab) extended the Cutthroats lead with the team's second goal of the night. Gale leads Denver's Playoff roster with a total of 11 points (three goals, eight assists).

Johan Ryd (Tommy Maxwell, Alex Velischek) scored the Arizona Sundogs first goal of the night to cut the deficit to one at the 2:08 mark of the third period. Cutthroats netminder Kent Patterson stopped 28 of 29 total shots on goal to hold the Sundogs to one and help his team take the night. Denver's 2-1 victory over Arizona gives them a 1-0 lead in the Conference Finals series.
