
Demonz Defeat Watertown in FHL Play this Eveing to Move into First Place

(Dayton) The Demonz put on an offensive show Friday night, defeating the Watertown Wolves 8-3. Dayton never let up on Watertown in the tilt. Watertown did not go down without a fight and played a very physical game but could not capitalize. The Dayton Demonz took to the ice Friday night with momentum on their side against the Watertown Wolves. Dayton came out the victor in Thursday night's game against Watertown in a close 5-4 OT thriller to tie them for first place with 80 points apiece. A win would propel the Demonz into first place.
The first period kicked off with physical play from both teams. Dan Pszenyczny broke free and fired a puck that found the back of the net through traffic to give the Demonz a 1-0 advantage. Roger Tagoona scored a shorthanded goal on a penalty shot after being tripped on a breakaway to give Dayton a 2-0 lead. Dayton went ahead 4-0 with Ahmed Mahfouz scoring on a 5 on 3 man advantage followed by Robert Vanwynsberghe's goal to increase the Demonz' lead. Dayton ended the first period with another shorthanded goal off the stick of Jared Hicks, ending the first period with a score of 5-0 in favor of Dayton.
Both teams settled down in the second period after 36 combined penalty minutes in the first period, including two fights. The Wolves started the second period on a shot by Cody Dion that went just over the shoulder of the Demonz' net minder and into the net, making the score 5-1. Dayton answered Watertown's goal with two goals from Lester Brown at the end of the second, ending the second period with a score of 7-1.
Roger Tagoona started the final period with a brilliant steal that lead to a breakaway goal (his second of the night) increasing Dayton's lead to 8-1. Cody Dion, desperately trying to get his team back into the game, scored his second goal of the night for Watertown. Lucas LaBelle, capitalized off of the momentum of their last goal, and snuck a shot through the legs of the goaltender to shorten the deficit to 8-3 for the Wolves.
