Defensive Line Gets Boost with Signings

The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) are busy putting the finishing touches on the roster for 2011 including Wednesday's signings of three defensive lineman that played collegiately in Kansas. The Wild signed Eric Lawrence and Brandon Jackson out of Washburn as well as Reggie St. Pierre from Fort Hays State.

Lawrence started all 12 games his freshman year as a right defensive end for the Ichabods in 2005. During season he recorded 36 tackles and led the team in sacks with six. The Belleglade, FL native finished the season as an honorable mention all-MIAA pick. Lawrence started all 11 games his sophomore year in 2006. He had a total of 23.5 tackles and a team leading five sacks. Lawrence earned All-MIAA honors and was a two-time winner of the Ichabod defensive player of the week award.

As a junior in 2007, Lawrence started 11 games and compiled 40 tackles. Lawrence also recorded 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries and was named to the All-MIAA second team. Lawrence was injured and lost the 2008 season, but returned to Washburn in 2009 for his senior season and did not miss a beat. He finished the campaign compiling 38.5 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Lawrence was named to the All-MIAA First team and the NCAA Division II All-Region team for his efforts. In his career at Washburn, Lawrence recorded 46.5 tackles for loss which ranks #1 all-time. He is also second in school history with 23 sacks.

Jackson first saw action at Washburn in 2006. The Kansas City, MO native saw action in ten games recording 13 tackles. As a sophomore Jackson started all 12 games and tallied 24 tackles. He was named to the All-MIAA team as an honorable mention. As a junior in 2008 Jackson played in 10 games and accumulated 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He was named to the All-MIAA Second team and NCAA Division II All-Region team for his performance. Jackson finished his eligibility at Washburn in 2009 when he recorded 24 tackles and a sack.

St. Pierre began his football career at North Iowa Community College in Mason City, IA where, as a freshman, he received the all-region honorable mention and as a sophomore received first team all-region. The Miami, FL native then went on to play at Fort Hays where he started in 10 games as a junior. During his junior year he was ranked third among FHSU defensive lineman with 27 tackles. In 2009 as a senior, St. Pierre finished second on the team in tackles with 67. He also recorded 2.5 sacks during the campaign.
