Louisiana IceGators News Release
Lafayette, LA- In less than 24 hours Louisiana IceGators Head Coach Drew Omicioli announces the return of another fan favorite, defenseman Mitch Stretch.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native will begin his third season with the IceGators come this October. In the past two seasons with the team, Stretch has played in 89 games, had 21 assists, and scored 5 goals. Despite only playing 45 regular season games and missing the playoffs due to an injury, Mitch finished the 2014-2015 season second in scoring as a defenseman and lead the team in the +/- category with a +10.
"I am excited to have Mitch Stretch back for another season," said Coach Omicioli. "Stretch was a dominate shut down defenseman for us all season and took pride in keeping our opponents first lines off the scoresheet. He also was our plus minus leader, while accepting his role, which only adds to him being a valuable asset on the back end. His work ethic and character on and off the ice will guide us to a championship run."
Season tickets are currently on sale. Individual game tickets will go on sale in September. The home opener has been set at the Cajundome against the Peoria Rivermen for November 5, 2015. For more information contact the IceGators office at 337.704.4423.
