Dean Hill Re-Signs with Stealth
November 15, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Vancouver Stealth News Release
(Vancouver, BC - Friday, November 15, 2013) - The Vancouver Stealth announced that they have re-signed Dean Hill to a one year contract for the 2014 season as he enters his 3rd season with the Stealth. Hill has played with 4 different teams during his 8 year career in the NLL, competing in 89 career games during that span. He's also put up some impressive numbers throughout his career, tallying 234 points (123g, 111a) and 202 loose balls in regular season and playoffs combined.
With the addition of Hill, the Stealth have secured another top 6 scorer for the 2014 season,
"Dean is a savvy goal scorer who gives an added dimension to our offense. He causes opposing defenses lots of concern because when he has the ball he's a threat," said President and General Manager Doug Locker.
Hill came to the Stealth in 2012 and couldn't be happier about the opportunity to continue his career with the Stealth,
"I'm really happy to be back. This is the team I want to play for. I was a restricted free agent and there was only one team I wanted to play with and that was Vancouver," said Hill.
Hill is coming off a solid 2013 season, tallying 20 goals during the regular season, behind only Athan Iannucci (22), Lewis Ratcliff (31), and Rhys Duch (45) for most goals. Hill also finished 6th on the team in scoring with 38 points (20g, 18a) and added another 3 points (1g, 2a) in 3 playoff games with the Stealth.
The 2014 season will bring a few changes, with the most significant being the Stealth's move to Vancouver, but Hill is looking forward to the opportunity of playing in a new home and in his home country,
"It's pretty special to play in Canada. I'm from Ontario but I have family and friends here, so to get the opportunity to play in front of them is pretty special," said Hill.
The expectations are high and will remain high for a team that came one goal short of winning the Champions Cup last year and Hill knows that missed opportunity will help provide some extra motivation for the team,
"I think our expectations are just like every team. We want to win that Championship game and I think we have the team to do it," said Hill.
The journey for another trip to the 2014 Champions Cup Final begins in Colorado on January 4th, followed by the Stealth's home opener at the Langley Events Centre on January 11th against the Minnesota Swarm.
