DC Power FC News Release
Washington, D.C. - DC Power Football Club (1-0-3, 6 pts) will travel to take on Carolina Ascent FC (0-2-3, 3 pts) on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET. at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
DC Power FC remains undefeated heading into Saturday night's fixture, searching for the club's first win since their road opener on Aug. 23. DC Power FC returns to Audi Field on Tuesday, Oct. 14 to face Sporting Jax. Tickets are available for purchase at https://www.dcpowerfootballclub.com/tickets/.
DC's side closed their three-game home stand with a 2-2 draw to Brooklyn FC on Thursday, Sept. 18. Forward Loza Abera opened scoring for DC Power FC at the 19th-minute mark and forward Gianna Gourley's 33rd-minute goal gave the club a 2-0 cushion ahead of half time. However, Brooklyn FC battled back and leveled the score 2-2, resulting in Power FC's third consecutive draw at home.
Saturday's match marks forward Jaydah Bedoya's first time facing her former club. Bedoya spent the 2024/25 season on Carolina Ascent FC's inaugural roster and has been an integral part of Power FC's front line since signing with the club.
Power FC head coach Omid Namazi expects Bedoya and the rest of the forward unit to step up and capitalize on chances in the attacking zone.
"We have to be better in the final third with the final pass and the final delivery," Namazi said. "In the game against Brooklyn FC, once they tied the game in the last 20 minutes, we had three or four clear chances to put it away and win the game. We weren't clinical in front of the net and we need to be better."
With two weeks of training leading up to Power FC's match at Carolina Ascent FC, DC's side has been working on playing through the pressure and controlling the tempo through the full 90 minutes.
"We're focusing on being able to find the right space, making good decisions even with pressure coming and breaking that pressure," Namazi said. "We need to improve and not allow teams to throw us off our game. We should be able to keep playing our game and connect the way we can because we've showed that we can."
Scouting Brooklyn FC
Led by head coach Philip Poole in his second season, Carolina Ascent FC sits in eighth place in the league standings and is looking to claim their first win of the season.
DC Power FC is 0-3-1 all-time against Carolia Ascent FC. In their last meeting on April 8, 2025, DC Power FC fell to Carolina 0-1 at Audi Field.
"They're a team that has good quality players in certain positions and they have a lot of speed upfront," Namazi said. "We have to be careful with how high our line is and the space we give them, because they can really hurt us if that space is given to them. We have to be very compact and avoid the service from their back line into their front line. On the other side, we need to control the tempo of the game and dictate what we want to do with moving the ball forward in the attacking half and being patient for the right opportunity to attack their backline."
DC Power Football Club's road fixture against Carolina Ascent will be broadcast on Peacock TV at 7:00 p.m. ET.
