ATTENTION SINGERS! DAZZLE SEARCHING FOR THE "ROANOKE DAZZLE IDOL" 106.1 Jammin' JJS, Tanglewood Mall and the Roanoke Dazzle present the first ever "Roanoke Dazzle Idol" singing contest. "Dazzle Idol" winner will walk away with $1000!

Roanoke, Va., February 16 - The Roanoke Dazzle along with 106.1 Jammin' JJS and Tanglewood Mall announce the first ever "Roanoke Dazzle Idol" singing contest to be held at halftime of select Dazzle games. The "Roanoke Dazzle Idol" contest winner will walk away with $1000 in prize money!

"Roanoke Dazzle Idol" auditions will be held Saturday, February 25th inside Tanglewood Mall and will be limited to the first 100 people to register. Registration is free and begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. on the lower level of the mall across from Belk.

Auditions will then begin at 11:00 a.m. in the order of registration. The 100 people to audition will have up to one minute to sing, A Cappella, a portion of a song of their choosing. Judges will then select 12 finalists to move on in the competition.

These 12 finalists will be randomly split into four groups of three, with each group competing at halftime of an assigned Dazzle home game. One winner from each group will move onto the semifinals to be held at halftime of the Dazzle game on Saturday, April 1. Out of the semifinals, two competitors will be selected for the final competition to be held at halftime of the Dazzle game on Sunday, April 2. The winner of this final competition will be named "Roanoke Dazzle Idol" and will take home the $1000 prize.

Tickets for Dazzle games are available at the Roanoke Civic Center Box Office or at www.tickets.com. Children age 12 and under and seniors age 55 and over are just $7.50, while adult tickets are $10 and $16.50. Groups of 15 or more people can receive special discounted tickets of just $7.50 per ticket when ordered in advance through the Roanoke Dazzle office by calling (540) 266-1000.

The NBA Development League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Arkansas RimRockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Fayetteville Patriots (N.C.), Florida Flame (Ft. Myers), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Roanoke Dazzle (Va.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.).

The D-League offers players the opportunity to develop their talent in a highly competitive atmosphere under the NBA's umbrella. Thirty-eight (38) players have been called up to the NBA on 56 separate occasions. Eleven (11) former D-League coaches, six athletic trainers, 14 referees and 30 front office executives have also been called up since the start of the league's inaugural season in November 2001.

Designed to help grow the sport of basketball both domestically and internationally, the league also offers fun, family entertainment at affordable prices. The D-League is a source of on-court talent for the NBA's 30 teams and is a diverse human resources pool for the NBA and its teams by training employees in management, operations, public relations, sales and marketing positions.
