LAST MEETING: Daytona Beach 58, Florence 52 (ot)

WHY THIS GAME IS IMPORTANT: Here's the deal as of Friday morning: If we win and Rome beats Raleigh, we move into a tie for third with the Rebels in the AIFL Southern Conference. And if Richmond beats Chattahoochee Valley, then there's a one-game separation between us and the Vipers, and we hold the tiebreaker because we stomped those snakes by 27 and they squeaked by us by 2. Florence still has a shot at a fourth-seed, especially with its final four games including two games with the Vipers and games with Augusta and Carolina.

WHY THIS GAME IS IMPORTANT FOR COACH BRYSON, COACH EVANS AND LUCAS GREENE: Coach Bryson is from nearby Abbeville, Coach Evans is from nearby and Greene played at Wingate. It's homecoming.

THE TRENDS: Daytona Beach has won five of its last six and is 2-2 on the road. Florence has won two of its last four and is 2-2 at home.

YEAH, BUT I NEED ANOTHER ANNOUNCER: The feel-good story of the week is Calvin Thomas, who was a commentator for our road game broadcasts, but finally got a chance to play and scored four touchdowns in last week's victory over Augusta. Our other road commentator, David Kearse, will also be absent, so we've activated the owners to fill the bill.

BACK IN THE POST ROUTE AGAIN: Greene will be making his return to the line-up after missing the last two games to injury.

ON A ROLE: Since sitting out the Florence game, Dereck Rivers has registered a sack in each of the last three games.

RANKINGS: Oscar Davenport 6th in total offense (193.8), 6th in total touchdowns (28), Robert Bailey 7th in scoring (102), 2nd in all purpose yards (158.6), 3rd in yards per catch (19.0), 8th in receiving touchdowns (15), Andy Eminger 2nd in PAT percentage (84.2), Nick Allison 4th in interceptions (7), Durell Preston third in tackles (40.5), Rashaan Kearney 5th in sacks (6.0), 5th in tackles for loss (5.0)

THE CLOSE GAMES: There have only been 15 games decided by nine points or less in the AIFL this season, and we've been in five of 'em. The list :
Daytona Beach 5 2 3
Chattahoochee Valley 3 2 1
Richmond 3 2 1
