Dayton Gems Fall To Port Huron 7:4

First period the defensive battle kept both teams scoreless. During the 2nd the Icehawks scored twice before the 3 minute mark. Gem Sam Bloom found the net with the help of Jon Ornelas and Mike Vaskivuo and the teddy bears went flying. Over 400 bears were collected by the players and staff to be distributed to the Children's Medical Center, Ronald McDonald House and local law enforcement agencies. Port Huron added 2 more goals then the Gems answered with 2 more of their own from Tim Hartung at 15:39 and Bloom making his second with only 2 minutes left. The period ended with the gems down 4:3. The final period had barely begun when the Ice Hawk added 1 and another before the halfway mark. Hartung scored for Dayton and Port Huron answered. The Final score Port Huron 7 Dayton 4.

The Gems hit the road this weekend making their first trip on Friday December 11th to Quad City followed by a ride over to Muskegon. Followed by Friday, December 18th's Toys for Tots and Military Night when the Gems take on the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Saturday, December 19th for Christmas in the Rink with the Flint Generals.
