Dayton Dutch Lions Game Preview for Friday
June 28, 2012 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Dayton Dutch Lions News Release
DAYTON, Ohio - The final doubleheader of the Dutch Lion season is Friday June 29 at Miami Valley South Stadium in Bellbrook with the women taking on the Northern Virginia Majestics at 5:30 p.m. and the Dayton Dutch Lions facing off against Orlando City Lions at 8 p.m.
Both the Dutch Lions Women (0-5-2) and the Majestics (0-7-0) are looking for their first win in the first of two match-ups. Each will have a second chance as they rematch Sunday July 1 at Miami Valley South Stadium at 6 p.m.
Turning to focusing on the regular season after losing to Sporting Kansas City in the quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, the Dutch Lions (1-7-5) take on Orlando City Lions (10-1-2) for the first time this season.
"I am curious to see how we recover from the Open Cup game," said Coach Ivar Van Dinteren. "Not just physically, but mentally as well. I think Orlando is almost as good as Kansas City. Last year we played very well against them and I think we will again give them a hard time. What is nicer than playing against the frontrunner? The answer is "Ëwinning'!"
With three goals each, Eli Garner and Gibson Bardsley, who is number one in shot with 34, will face off with Orlando City's Dennis Chin (six goals, 20 shots, 12 points) and Kevin Molino (five assists, 9 points). Orlando City has five players in the Top 20 Point Leaders of the USL PRO.
