Dayton Bombers News Release

In order to win hockey games you need to score goals. Today, the Dayton Bombers took a major step in that direction with the signings of forwards Preston Mizzi and Nick Lees.

Preston Mizzi, 23, a 1999 fourth round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes, was acquired from the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in an off-season trade. He was a key member of the Bombers' team that advanced to the 2001-02 Kelly Cup Finals. That year, he had 18 goals and 24 assists for 42 points in just 44 games with the Bombers. He also played 27 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League that same year, registering 3 goals and 3 assists. He followed up with his best point total as a professional in 2002-03 while a member of the Pee Dee Pride. He registered 22 goals and assists for 57 points in 67 games. Last year, Mizzi tallied ten goals and 26 assists for 36 points while a member of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. He also played 4 games in Bridgeport of the American Hockey League, registering one assist.

"Preston is an exciting, high energy, high skill player that has the fans on the edge of their seat whenever he is on the ice. He has a nose for the net but is not a one dimensional player. He competes hard at both ends of the ice." said Don MacAdam, Bombers co-owner.

Nick Lees, a 20 year old native of Peterborough, Ontario, joins the Bombers after a stellar five year career in the Ontario Hockey League. Last year, he joined the Saginaw Spirit after playing the first 3 games with the Barrie Colts, and proceeded to score 42 goals and 26 assists for 68 points. Over his last 3 seasons in the OHL, he totaled 91 goals and 85 assists for 176 points. He joined the Reading Royals of the ECHL at the end of last season, tallying 2 goals in 4 playoff games.

"Being able to put up that many goals on a last place team where he was the whole offense says a lot about Nick's offensive skill. He is the type of player that is a threat to score anytime he is on the ice." added MacAdam.

The Dayton Bombers are the proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets and a member of the ECHL – America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Dayton Bombers' home-opener is October 29th at the Ervin J. Nutter Center. 2004-2005 season ticket packages are available by calling the Bombers' office at 937-775-4747.
