Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

Leader of the Pack: After another shoot-out with their opponent, the Yard Dawgz remain the #1 ranked offense in the af2 with an average of 325 yards/game and the #1 pass offense. With Al Hunts 57-yard KO return, the Dawgz are now tied for the league lead with 3 kick-off returns for touchdowns.

The Graduate: WR Danny Howard has done most of his damage on the road this season and Lubbock was no different. Howard finished the game with 5 grabs for 121 yards and 3 touchdowns. Howard remains among the elite receivers in the league with 55 receptions for 801 yards and 14 TD's. Howard also had 3 kick returns for 62 yards and a missed field goal return for 12 yards, giving him 203 all-purpose yards for the game. Howard ranks 9th with 14.6 yards per catch, 1st with 801 receiving yards, 1st with 114 receiving yards/game and 10th in receptions.

King of the Hill: QB Stan Hill bounced back from mid-game struggles to lead the Dawgz to their 3rd road victory of the season. Hill completed 22 of 40 pass attempts for 243 yards and 7 TD's. Hill still leads the league with an average of 279 passing yards/game and is 2nd in total offense.

The Hunt Is On: Last week, WR/LB Al Hunt continued his barrage on the af2 record books by scoring his 700th career point. This week, Hunt expanded on his already gaudy numbers with 8 receptions for 114 yards and 2 TD's, including the game winner as time expired. Hunt also had a 57 yard kick-off return for a touchdown. Earlier this season, Hunt became the 9th player to score 100 TD's, the 14th to reach the 4,000 receiving yards mark and the 7th player in af2 history to score 700 point in a career.

Up Front: Barry Giles, Gene Frederic, Claude Davis and Zack Condo have been a solid wall of protection for QB Stan Hill so far this season. The offensive line has allowed just 3 sacks this season (2nd in af2).

Jon Holland: The Dawgz leading tackler was all over the field while racking up 4.5 tackles. Holland has 55.5 tackles (3rd in af2) and is 3rd in the league with 7.9 tackles per game.

Larry Hayden: The main reason Jon Holland's tackles have diminished is because of the arrival of Larry Hayden. Since taking over at LB in Week 3, Hayden has made play after play for the defense including an interception for TD against Amarillo. Hayden has 19 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble. Hayden's range has made opposing quarterbacks very aware of his presence.

Texas Three Step: The Yard Dawgz made their 3rd trip to Texas this season and came home with their 3rd victory. The Dawgz defeated Corpus Christi in week 3 and Amarillo last week. The Dawgz will make one more trip to the Lone Star State on June 23 when they travel to play Rio Grande Valley.

Dawg Pound: After a bye week, the Dawgz return to Compassionate Care Hospice Field at the Ford Center for consecutive home games for the first time this season. On June 2nd, the Laredo Lobos will visit and on June 9th, the Amarillo Dusters will bus to Oklahoma for a rematch.

Road Dawgz: The Yard Dawgz finished back to back trips to Texas with wins against Amarillo and Lubbock. The Dawgz are now 3-2 on the road this season and 4-3 overall.

Red River Rivalry: The two Oklahoma teams in the af2, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, are a combined 7-0 against the Texas contingent (Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Laredo, Lubbock, Rio Grande Valley and Texas) this season. The Texas representatives will have an opportunity to even the score with 7 games remaining between the two states. The Yard Dawgz are 11-4 all-time against Texas teams.
