Victor RailRiders News Release

The DiamondDawgs were able to defeat the RailRiders in a quick nine inning game on Thursday night by a score of 6-0.

The game was very close until the 8th inning, when a 3 run homer broke open the game for the Dawgs, giving them a 5-0 lead.

Adam Ashenfarb (Union College) improved his record to 4-2 on the summer after pitching 7.0 solid innings for Mohawk Valley. He gave up just 5 hits and did not allow any runs while Lucas Godlewski (Herkimer CC) continued the trend, pitching the final 2 innings while allowing just 3 base runners.

Eoin McAvinchey (St. Leo University) recorded a quality start for the Riders, but was tagged for the loss as he received no run support from his offense. Eoin went 7.0 innings, giving up 6 hits and just 2 runs over that span. Matt Boone (Norfolk State University) pitched the final 2 innings, giving up 1 hit and an unearned run.

Matt Pagano (Marist College), Anthony Herrera (University of Louisiana- Monroe), and Troy Scocca (Fairfield University), the top three in the order for the Dawgs, lead the way offensively. They combined to go 8-14 with 5 runs scored with Scocca adding a 3 run homer and 4 RBI.

Dale Wickham (Cornell University) and Evan Fernandez (Jacksonville Unoversity) each had 2 hits for the RailRiders.

With the loss, Victor moves to 22-19 on the season, good for second place in the West Division.
