Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that Rod Davidson has resigned as general manager and head coach.

Davidson, 54, has been behind the bench the last three seasons with Indianapolis and has posted a 90-97-17 regular season record to go along with a 10-8 mark in playoff contention. The pinnacle of his three years with the Ice was the miraculous 2000 run which saw the Ice go 37-16-1 for the final five months and capture the Miron Cup Championship.

"I have really enjoyed my three years in Indianapolis," said Davidson. "I appreciate the support I have received from the great and loyal fan base. "I also want to extend a special thank you to the front office staff for their support and their encouragement through some difficult times. I would like to leave Indianapolis remembering the championship year of 1999-2000."

The Brantford, Ontario native joined the Ice franchise late in the summer of 1999 after spending a year behind the bench with the Alexandria Warthogs of the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL). He has also previously served as a top scout for both the Chicago Wolves and Utah Grizzlies of IHL and was part of two Turner Cup Championship teams with the Grizzlies.

"Rod Davidson was a true professional both on and off the ice, " said Ice Owner Horn Chen. "We are very grateful for the leadership he provided the last three years and we wish him continued success in his future endeavors."

The team is expected to name a new head coach and a general manager in the near future.
