Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have hired David Alexander to serve as the Crunch's goaltending & video coach Crunch General Manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
"We are excited to add Dave to our coaching staff," said BriseBois. "He will be of great help to our goalies and the other members of our coaching staff."
Alexander brings 10 years of goalie coaching experience to the Crunch. The Moncton, New Brunswick native worked with the NCAA's Division 1 University of Maine Black Bears for five seasons and also worked with Hockey New Brunswick and Canada's U17 Team Atlantic. Alexander also serves as the director of goaltending development with Alexander Goaltending and a member of the Goaltending Consultant Group. His personal clients have competed at the World Championships and include two AHL All-Star appearances and an NHL Rookie All-Star team selection.
A native of New Brunswick, Alexander is a 2006 graduate of the University of New Brunswick where he obtained his bachelor's degree in education.
"The decision to come to Syracuse wasn't just about finding any job for me. It was about finding the right job," said Alexander. "What made this decision the one for me started from the top with my interviews with Steve Yzerman. From an organizational and coaching standpoint we have the same philosophies. As I continued to meet and interview with others, such as Julien BriseBois and Rob Zettler, the feeling that we were all on the same page continued to become more and more evident. "It's amazing to think the new season is just around the corner, I'm very excited about the new opportunity to grow as a coach and to work alongside such well respected people as Rob and Trent Cull."
The Syracuse Crunch will celebrate 20 seasons of Crunch hockey at their home opener on October 12, 2013. Season tickets for 2013-14 can be purchased either in person at the Crunch Box Office located at the War Memorial on 800 South State Street in Syracuse, or by calling the office at (315) 473- 4444.
