Dave King Appointed Head Coach Of The Montreal Royal

Montreal, Canada. Dr. Luc Filiatrault and Pascal Jobin, owners of the ABA Montreal Royal basketball team are pleased to announce the appointment of Dave King as head coach. Coach King is a well-known figure in basketball in Quebec and in Canada. He was the developmental coach at the Centre de Performance et d'excellence du Quebec (CPEQ - Basketball Sport-Etudes). Coach King's extensive experience includes many different levels and all ages.

He has been a coach at the CEGEP and CIS (university) level, where his teams made the playoffs every year. He has been a pool coach for Canada Basketball, assisting with the identification of potential prospects for the National teams. He assisted at Nike's All Canada camp from 2000-2002.

Coach King has also worked with Canada Basketball in national training camps. He was the assistant coach of the Quebec provincial summer team that won the gold medal at the 2001 Canada Games. He was the head coach for the men's under 17 Quebec provincial summer team in 2004 and 2005. leading that team to the silver medal at the 2005 Canada Games.

As a player, Coach King helped lead Bishop's University to a provincial title (Q.U.A.A. Champions 1987-88). He was also named a CIAU All-Canadian 1988, Most Outstanding Player OQAA and Most Valuable Player for the Bishop's University Gaiters four times between 1986 and 1989. He was also a member of the Canadian National Team Program in 1988.
