MYRTLE BEACH, SC (JULY 14, 2012) - The Dash recorded their 10th shutout of the season and second straight blanking of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans by a final score of 2-0 in the finale of a four-game series Saturday night inside TicketReturn.com Field.

Winston-Salem (12-11, 56-36-1) hurlers befuddled the Pelicans (14-9, 50-43) during this four-game series, capping it off with a three-hit shutout. After Myrtle Beach scored six times in the first three innings in Wednesday's opener, the Dash held the home team to just two tallies in 32 innings.

Winston also posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since turning the trick three straight times from August 24-26, 2011. Thanks to this, the Dash have won three straight series after losing three of their first four to kick off the second half.

In his first career minor league start, Chris Bassitt recorded four scoreless innings. Bassitt, who had not started a game since his high school days, allowed two hits, struck out three and stranded five Pelicans. Over the last three games, Winston-Salem starters have surrendered only one run in 18 innings of work.

Out of the bullpen, Matt Wickswat (1-0) retired five of the six men he faced in his second outing with the Dash this season. J.R. Ballinger finished the sixth inning before cruising through the seventh. Terance Marin earned his sixth save by finishing the game with a pair of scoreless innings.

For the third time in as many days, the Dash struck first, but it took the club until the fourth inning. With two on and two down, Ross Wilson shot a single up the middle to dent the scoreboard. Wilson finished 3-for-3 and has five hits in his last two games.

Winston added an insurance run in the top of the ninth. Miguel Gonzalez reached on a one-out single and eventually scored on a passed ball charged to Tomas Telis.

The Dash have Sunday off before kicking off another four-game set on the road. Winston-Salem will play the Carolina Mudcats in a series opener Monday night at 7:15 from Five County Stadium, with righty Jake Petricka (5-5, 5.28 ERA) starting for the Dash against southpaw Mike Rayl (5-7, 4.14 ERA). Pre-game coverage begins at 7:00 on wsdash.com.

The Dash kick off a seven-game homestand at BB&T Ballpark Friday at 7:00 p.m. against the Frederick Keys. For more information or to purchase your tickets, call the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visit wsdash.com.
