DYNAMO 2 TRAVEL WEST FOR REMATCH WITH TIMBERS 2

Dynamo 2 is back on the road following the team's first home loss of the season. In last week's match, Houston fell by a final score of 1-0 against Sporting Kansas City II before the first team's 1-0 victory in the 11th installment of the Dynamo Charities Cup. With the loss, Dynamo 2 fell to fourth place in the conference standings, which still puts them in position to qualify for the inaugural edition of the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs.

Timbers 2 is currently in 10th place in the Western conference standings, and is coming off a 2-1 loss to first-place North Texas SC. All three goals in this match came in the first half, with North Texas scoring both of their goals in the first 19 minutes of action. Portland cut the deficit in half when forward Jamin Gogo Peter scored two minutes before halftime. However, Timbers 2 could not muster the equalizer in the second half and continued a streak of 10 games to start the season without a victory in regulation.

This is the second matchup between these two teams this season. In the first game, Dynamo 2 put out arguably its most impressive performance of the season to date. Making their PNC Stadium debut, Houston scored four goals and conceded just once. Forward Papa N'Doye was the catalyst for Dynamo 2, contributing two assists and scoring once as part of the 4-1 victory.

Here are three key points ahead of Sunday's doubleheader:

FINAL GAME BEFORE BREAK: The Dash will send seven players off to their respective national team's following Sunday's match. Houston's Canadian trio of Nichelle Prince, Sophie Schmidt and Allysha Chapman will join the Canadian Women's National Team. Maria Sanchez will join the Mexico Women's National Team. Both nations are preparing to compete in the 2022 Concacaf Women's Championship tournament held in Monterrey, Mexico in July. Michelle Alozie will join the Nigerian Women's National Team for the Africa Women Cup of Nations group stage. Michaela Abam will join the Cameroonian Women's National Team who is also competing in the group state of the Africa Women Cup of Nations. Dash forward Rachel Daly has been named to England's roster for the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 tournament and has been with the Lionesses since June 4.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Dash are unbeaten on the road this season and are currently on their longest unbeaten run away from home in club history. In 2022, the Dash are 2-0-2 away from PNC Stadium so far this season with wins over Portland and Kansas City on the road. Houston has outscored its opponents 5-1 on the road and have posted two clean sheets. Against North Carolina, the Dash are unbeaten with a 3-0-1 record in the last four meetings. Houston earned its first win at WakeMed Soccer Park in July 2021 after Gabby Sieler scored the game-winner in the 62nd minute of the match to secure three points at WakeMed Soccer Park.

DYNAMO 2 PLAYERS STEPPING UP TO THE FIRST TEAM: Last week's exhibition against Atletico San Luis in the Dynamo Charities Cup, presented by PNC, offered a few Dynamo 2 regulars the opportunity to see first team minutes, some for the very first time. Midfielder Diego Gonzalez and defender Micael Dos Santos Silva each came on as halftime substitutes for the Dynamo and helped lead the team to victory. Additionally, goalkeeper Xavier Valdez manned the goal for the second half, and held a clean sheet during his stint in the game. Midfielder Brooklyn Raines also came on at the very end of the game, and made his impact felt in the brief time that he was on the pitch.
