COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Darryl Nelson, who for the last 19 seasons has served as the strength and conditioning coach for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program, is stepping aside at the end of the season.

"It's been an absolute pleasure to work with the players and staff at the NTDP, but I feel like the time is right for me to turn the page as we finish the season," said Nelson. "USA Hockey is a terrific organization and while I'm leaving, I will certainly continue to follow what is happening at the NTDP and with the organization overall."

Nelson came to USA Hockey from Boston, where he worked at Mike Boyle's Strength and Conditioning Clinic.

"Darryl has played an important role in the development and evolution of the National Team Development Program," said Scott Monaghan, senior director of operations for the NTDP. "His passion and commitment to helping our athletes was evident every day and we will certainly miss that. I think I can speak for all of the players and coaches whose careers he has positively impacted at the NTDP over the last nearly 20 years in thanking him and wishing him the very best in the future."
