Darnell Arceneaux Back with the Islanders

July 10, 2003 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Hawaiian Islanders News Release

HONOLULU – The Hawaiian Islanders Thursday activated quarterback Darnell Arceneaux from the injured list and will travel to Oklahoma as the Islanders (9-4) meet the Tulsa Talons (10-3) in a critical inter-conference game this weekend.

Arceneaux missed the last five games due to a hairline fracture in his right hand. Through the first eight games of the season, Arceneaux has completed 106-of-213 passes for 1,491 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also is the team’s third leading rusher with 128 yards on 32 carries with four touchdowns.

“It’s great to have Darnell back,” said head coach Cal Lee. “He worked real hard in practice this week and we’ll make a game-time decision on how much playing time he’ll receive.

The Islanders also activated wide receiver/linebacker Darrick Branch from the injured list. In two games this season, Branch recorded six receptions for 131 yards.

To make room on the roster, the Islanders reassigned Tony Tata and Matt Elam to the af2.

Hawaii’s game against division leading Tulsa will be broadcast live this Saturday on KUMU2 AM 1500 beginning at 2:30 p.m. or can be heard live on the Internet at www.hawaiianislanders.com
