Darius Vines Named Southern League Pitcher of the Month

PEARL, MS - Minor League Baseball™ (MiLB™) today announced the Player and Pitcher of the Month Award winners for July in each of the 14 leagues in Major League Baseball's player development system. M-Braves starterPitcher Darius Vines has been named the Southern League Pitcher of the Month.

Vines went 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA in five starts, allowing four earned runs over a league-best 30.2 innings. He struck out 32, walked nine, and held opponents to a .155 average. The Oxnard, CA native has a 1.51 ERA over his last eight starts (8 ER/47.2 IP), 44 strikeouts, and nine walks, matching career highs with 7.0 shutout innings on June 25 at Montgomery, July 1 at Biloxi, and Thursday night against Biloxi at Trustmark Park.

He leads the league with 127 strikeouts, and 107.0 innings pitched while also ranking among the leaders in starts (20, T-1st), ERA (3.95, 4th), AVG (.244, 6th), and WHIP (1.21, 4th). Vines' 127 strikeouts are second in Double-A and sixth in MiLB.

Vines, 24, was selected by Atlanta in the seventh round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Cal-State Bakersfield.
