Tucson Sidewinders News Release
Salt Lake City, UT - Jamie D'Antona hit three home runs and drove in five as the Sidewinders beat the Salt Lake Bees 8-5 on Friday night.
D'Antona followed Trent Oeltjen's solo home run in the first with a long ball of his own to put the Sidewinders up 2-0. His two run shot in the third made it 4-0, and another two run homer made it 7-4 in the fifth.
The Sidewinders tied a season high with five home runs in the game. Oeltjen's home run in the first was his second in as many days and Donnie Kelly led off the fourth inning with a solo shot to right.
A.J. Shappi earned his first Triple-A win by allowing four runs (one earned) in five innings. He allowed six hits, struck out one and did not issue a walk.
Emiliano Fruto allowed one run in three innings out of the bullpen and Jailen Peguro worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save of the season.
D'Antona had two at-bats to tie the minor league record of four home runs in a game but literally came up just a few feet short. His fly ball to right in the seventh was beaten down by the wind and died just shy of the warning track. He struck out in his final at-bat in the ninth.
The Sidewinders and Bees play game two of their series on Saturday night at Franklin Covey Field. Right-hander Billy Buckner (4-7, 4.58) starts for Tucson against right-hander Nick Green (4-3, 5.00) for Salt Lake. First pitch is at 6:05 Tucson time. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 5:55.
