Danger Ready to Square off with Wyoming Cavalry

Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Nebraska Danger enter the second half of the 2014 IFL season with a home game against the Wyoming Cavalry on Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7 PM at the Heartland Events Center, with the Danger currently sharing the Intense Conference lead with rival Colorado, both at 5-2 on the season.

The Danger were off last week and will take the field for the first time since they defeated Texas 35-33 in Grand Island on April 12, courtesy of Joe Houston's 16-yard field goal with no time left. It was the most improbable of wins, as the Danger squandered a 29-14 halftime lead and watched as Houston missed a 29-yard attempt with 31 seconds left.

But, armed with a full allotment of timeouts, the Danger defense stopped Texas on downs and the Revolution then bobbled the snap on fourth down, which gave Nebraska the ball back with 16 seconds left. Houston was named IFL special teams player-of-the-week for his kick.

"It was one of those games we might not have deserved to win, but we pulled it out," Danger coach Mike Davis said. "You are going to have a couple of those during the season."

Quarterback Jameel Sewell threw for 168 yards and ran for 59 on just eight carries in the win for Nebraska while playing his full game since March 8th against Texas. Kayne Farquharson led the Danger receiving corps with 73 yards on six catches and Maurice Avery added 70 yards on seven receptions. Ramon Broadway had 9.5 tackles for the Danger defense, which also produced four sacks and four turnovers in the contest.

"We are playing really well on defense right now, but we can play better," Davis said. "We just need to get fully healthy on offense and I think we are pretty close. Wyoming is probably a little better than their record shows. They beat Texas and they have played some teams really close. We'll need to be ready."

Despite their 1-6 record, the Cavalry will have Nebraska's full attention. They defeated Texas 28-24 on March 28th and the next week lost to division co-leader Colorado 51-50. Quarterback Sam Durley is fourth in the league in passing yards/game (154) and third in touchdown passes (20).

Kickoff is set for 7 pm on Saturday night at the Heartland Events Center. Doors open at 6:00 with pre-game activities beginning at 6:30. The theme is 70s night, with 5% off tie-dye shirts.

Tickets for Friday night are available at area Pump & Pantry stores, the Heartland Events Center Box Office, or via Ticketmaster. The game will be broadcast live on 2DayFM 103.1, or streamed live at www.2dayfm1031.com

Following the game, an autograph party with Players and Coaches will take place on the Danger turf.
