IFL Nebraska Danger

Danger Look to Even Record against Sugar Skulls

April 4, 2019 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NE - For the first time since late February, the Nebraska Danger finds itself in the win column, fresh off a 50-35 victory over the Bismarck Bucks this past weekend.

Now it's uncharted territory for the 2-3 Danger as they square off with the Tucson Sugar Skulls for the first time in franchise history. Tuscson, much like Nebraska is entering the game trying to learn its place in the IFL this season. While the Sugar Skulls are 3-1, their three wins have come against teams with a combined record of 3-11. Tucson's only loss this season came at the hands of the Arizona Rattlers, who cruised to a 63-28 win.

The Danger have bookend wins over the Bismarck Bucks to surround their three losses this season, but with a win over Tucson on Saturday, could scratch their way back to .500 and have a stretch of games that could see the Danger improve to 6-3 before visiting Arizona in May.

There's a lot of football between then and now, but for the Danger, they continue to ride the hot play of quarterback Tommy Armstrong, Jr. Through five games, he's thrown for 11 TD's with just two interceptions. Most of his damage has come on the ground, however, as Armstrong has a team-leading 303 rushing yards this season on 46 carries, including another 11 touchdowns which has him on pace to break the Danger's rushing TD season record set by Jameel Sewell back in 2013.

Kickoff Saturday night is set for 7 p.m. in the Heartland Events Center in Grand Island on Military Appreciation Night and Boy Scout Night. Tickets are available at area Pump & Pantrys, Ticketmaster, or the Heartland Events Center Box Office.
