Danger Football Names Thomas as Player of the Week

Nebraska Danger News Release

GRAND ISLAND, NE - Receivers who haul in three catches in a game usually don't receive a weekly honor, but that's exactly what Eric Thomas did this week for the Nebraska Danger. In just three receptions, Thomas led the team in receiving yards and in receiving touchdowns in the Danger's 43-32 win over the Iowa Barnstormers Friday night.

All three of Thomas' catches went for touchdowns in the game, with scoring strikes of 37, 20 and 11 yards, only proving further the ability of Thomas to work well in both a small and large window.

Friday night's game was also just the second start for quarterback Jesse Scroggins, who is replacing Damien Fleming who suffered a season-ending injury against Cedar Rapids. It took Scroggins a while to get going, but when he did, Thomas was his go-to guy. Scroggins ended with 154 yards on 9-of-18 passing, with 68 of those yards ending up in the hands of Thomas.

Scroggins also out-performed opposing quarterback Drew Powell who is used to playing the Heartland Events Center as a former Danger star. Powell entered the game against Nebraska as a top-three passer in the league, but the Danger gave him fits, holding him to just 141 yards through the air and only 48 yards rushing even though he entered the game as the league's leading rusher.

Overall this season, Thomas has separated himself as one of the IFL's best receivers. He currently leads the league in receiving yardage per game, pulling in an average of 71 yards per game. He's also second in the league with receiving touchdowns at eight overall, trailing just Arizona's Anthony Amos who has nine.

Tickets for the 2018 Nebraska Danger Football Season are on sale through the Heartland Events Center Ticket Office, Ticketmaster.com, or through your local Pump and Pantry Locations. For more information, visit dangerfootball.com.
