
Danbury Doubles up Bay Sox

New Bedford Bay Sox News Release
Tonight was the 1st meeting between the New Bedford Bay Sox and the Danbury Westerners for the 2013 season at Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford, MA. The Westerns notched 15 hits and 2 errors while the Bay Sox notched 12 hits on 4 errors. The final score of the game was Danbury 10 to New Bedford 5.
The starting pitchers for the Bay Sox and the Westerners were Aaron Graef and Steven Ascher, respectively. The Westerners led off the game with the 1st hit in the top of the 1st off a single from Alex Tuccio. They weren't able to score a run, leaving 3 on base in the 1st.
After a scoreless 1st inning, Danbury went on a run in the 2nd, scoring 5 total runs including a 2 run homer by Chris Riopedre. New Bedford responded with a pitching change to Tucker Forbes.
The score remained 5-0 until the bottom of the 3rd when Bay Sox player's Lane Richards and Kurt Seiders each scored a run. Their run came to a close with a pop up caught by Danbury left fielder Zach Blanden.
The Bay Sox looked to the bullpen in the top of the 4th, substituting Danny Tyson on the mound. Danbury added another run in the 4th off a hit by Alex Tuccio. New Bedford couldn't add another run until the bottom of the 6th. They managed to add 2 scored by Max Nogay and Chris Venditti (7-4).
The Westerners added a run in the 7th, scored by Alex Cruz. New Bedford added 1 run as well off an RBI single to center field by Chris Travers. The Westerners scored the last 2 runs of the game ending with a score of 10-5. Danbury evened out their record at 5-5 and the Bay Sox dropped to 3-9.
The Bay Sox's next home game is a make-up game on Tuesday June 25th at 6:30 at Paul Walsh Field.
