
Dan Dawson Named NLL Player of the Week

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson has been named the NLL's Overall and Offensive Player of the Week for Week #16 of the season. Dawson scored 3 goals and dished out 3 assists for a total of 6 points in a 16-13 home win over the San Jose Stealth on Friday. He followed that performance up with a 4G-2A-6P effort in a 10-7 road win over the Stealth on Saturday. The big numbers Dawson put up over the weekend gave him 82 points on the season, 2 short of his franchise record. He also ended up tying his own team record for assists in a season with 48.
In other NLL news, Buffalo Bandits veteran goaltender Steve Dietrich earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Dietrich stopped 39 shots and allowed only seven goals in an 8-7 home with over Philadelphia on Friday. Philadelphia Wings forward Sean Greenhalgh was named Rookie of the Week for Week # 16. Greenhalgh registered 2G-5A-7P over the course of two games against Buffalo last weekend.
The Sting will open up the NLL Champion's Cup Playoffs this weekend on the road in Portland against the Lumberjax. Arizona has a record of 1-1 against Portland this season.
