
Dietrich earns third Player of the Week award

BUFFALO, NY (April 19, 2006) - Buffalo Bandits goaltender Steve Dietrich has been named the NLL's Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season in recognition of his play in Week 16. Dietrich earned his league-best 10th win of the season against Philadelphia on Friday as the Bandits clinched home-field advantage throughout the 2006 Champion's Cup Playoffs. The Kitchener, Ont.-native made 39 saves on 46 shots to earn an 8-7 win against the Philadelphia Wings before getting a night off on Saturday to rest himself for the playoffs.
Now in his fifth season with Buffalo, Dietrich finished the 2006 regular season leading the NLL with a 9.97 goals-against average, an .808 save percentage and 10 wins. Overall, Dietrich was 10-4 and has appeared in 15-of-16 games the Bandits have played this season. He previously was named Defensive Player of the Week for Week 3, when he made 56 saves on 67 shots in the season opener, earning a 13-11 win against Toronto, and again in Week 14, when he recorded consecutive wins at San Jose and Arizona that clinched a playoff berth for Buffalo.
