Maywood Laguneros News Release

LONG BEACH, CA – The American Basketball Association (ABA) Long Beach Jam franchise announced today the signing of Damion Dantzler. In 14 games with the Fresno HeatWave of the ABA this season, Dantzler was averaging 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

The 6-8 Dantzler can play the either forward position or the center. With former Jammers DerMarr Johnson (New York Knicks) and Matt Barnes (Los Angeles Clippers) recently called up to the NBA, the need to sign Dantzler arose. In Dantzler's college career at the University of Louisville under the coaching of Denny Crum, his teams advanced to the Elite 8 twice in three trips to the NCAA tournament. Dantzler was named the 1998 Defensive Player of the Year.

The next Jam home game is Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Tijuana Diablos. Individual game tickets are on sale now and available for purchase by visiting the Long Beach State Pyramid box office, or by phone at 562-985-4949 and 888-4-JAM-TIX. Prices range from $5 for students, senior citizens and military, to $10-15 for reserved seating.
