Dallas Wings News Release
Arlington, TX - The Dallas Wings have signed Odyssey Sims to a rest-of-season contract, the team announced today. The Wings were granted a salary cap hardship due to the team only having nine available players. Crystal Dangerfield was injured during the Wings' game at Connecticut on Sunday (6/4). Dangerfield joins Diamond DeShields and Lou Lopez Senechal on the team's injured list. Teaira McCowan remains on the Wings temporarily suspended list, as she competes for Turkey in the EuroBasket competition.
Sims joins Kalani Brown on a hardship contract. One of these two hardship contracts will be terminated when the team has at least ten other players able to play. The other hardship contract will be terminated with the return of either DeShields or Lopez Senechal.
Sims was originally drafted with the second overall selection in the 2014 WNBA Draft by the Tulsa Shock and was a member of the 2014 WNBA All-Rookie Team. She spent the 2016 season with the Dallas Wings and appeared in 34 games, while averaging 14 points and nearly four assists. In 2019, she was named a WNBA All-Star and was a member of the All-WNBA Second Team, as a member of the Minnesota Lynx. Sims attended Baylor University where she was a member of the 2012 National Championship Baylor Bears Women's Basketball team that finished the season with a perfect 40-0 record.
The Dallas Wings will face the Phoenix Mercury tonight in the first of a two-game set this week. Tonight's game features the return of the Mercury's Brittney Griner to Texas and on Friday, June 9, the Wings will be hosting their annual Pride Night.
