Dallas Mavericks Assign Three to NBA D-League Affiliate Texas Legends

NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2011 - The Dallas Mavericks assigned three players - guards Drew Neitzel and Jerome Randle, and forward/center Sean Williams -- to the Texas Legends, the Mavericks' NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignments mark the third, fourth and fifth times in the 2011-12 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate. It marks the first assignment for each player this season.

A rookie, Neitzel (6-0, 180) appeared in both preseason games for the Mavericks, averaging 3.5 points. A standout at Michigan State University, Neitzel averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 assists and 2.8 rebounds as a junior in 2007, earning All-America Second Team honors. Undrafted in the 208 NBA Draft, Neitzel played for the Minnesota Timberwolves summer league squad in 2008 and the Portland Trail Blazers summer league team in 2009. He spent last season with BBC Bayreuth (Germany), averaging 7.7 points, 3.4 assists and 1.4 rebounds.

Also a rookie, Randle (5-10, 172) averaged 11.0 points in two preseason games with Dallas. Randle starred at the University of California where he was a three-year starter for the Golden Bears, Randle was named Pac-10 Player of the Year and Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention in his senior campaign, averaging 18.6 points and 4.3 assists. Undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft, Randle competed for both the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards during 2010 NBA Summer League.

Williams (6-10, 235), who attended Dallas' Mansfield High School before starring collegiately at Boston College, was selected by the New Jersey Nets with the 17th overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft. In parts of three seasons with the Nets, Williams appeared in 243 games, averaging 4.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. This is Williams' second stint with Texas. He appeared in 49 regular-season games for the Legends in 2010-11, averaging 14.4 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.0 blocks. In two playoff games, Williams averaged 12.0 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks. Williams' NBA D-League career also includes an eight-game stint in 2008-09 with the Colorado 14ers. Overall, Williams has played in 57 NBA D-League games and owns averages of 13.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks.
