Dallas Jackals Season Opener Sunday vs. Houston

Dubbed the "I-45 Feud", fans will get a BIG Texas Flavor when they come out to see the Dallas Jackals tackle the Houston Sabercats. Match time is 7:05 PM Sunday February 19th at Choctaw Stadium, Arlington.

Opening ceremonies will feature Arlington Martin High School as the color guard, an oversized Texas State Flag on the pitch and fireworks to welcome the 2023 Jackals players.

Grand Prairie native Keith Armstrong will sing the national anthem. For more than 30 years Armstrong has performed the Star-Spangled Banner at events ranging from pro sports to rodeo & livestock shows to the Dallas Opera.

Among the match spectators will be Brad Leland; film and TV actor, graduate of Plano High School and best known for his role as Buddy Garrity in the NBC hit series "Friday Night Lights". Leland also appeared in other iconic Texas based shows like Dallas and Walker Texas Ranger.

Want more football? Former NFL Punter and Jackals minority owner Jon Ryan will provide tips to a lucky fan at half-time. This contestant (picked at random from the crowd) will try their luck at a Rugby style kick through the uprights to win Jackals swag.

Members of FC Dallas and their affiliate, the North Texas Soccer Club, will be hand with an interactive game for kids. There will also be a jersey exchange between a member of FC Dallas and one of the Jackals players.

Everything is BIGGER in Texas and that includes the fan's food options on Sunday Night. Choctaw Stadium concessions stands will feature unique Texas food options along with regular fare. Jackals VIP and Founders Season Seat Members will gnosh on a genuine Texas Backyard BBQ pre-match:

- Beer Cheese dip with Potato chips

- Backyard BBQ Salad

- Smashed Potato Salad With mustard dressing and bell peppers trio

- BBQ pulled Pork with BBQ seasoning

- Smoked Brisket with Grilled onions, BBQ sauce and pickles

- Baked Beans. Tender white beans slowly cooked in a molasses-based sauce.

After an evening that BIG, players from both teams will toast their opponents during the post-match meal, featuring beers from Tyler Texas' own True Vine Brewing.

The Dallas Jackals are a member of Major League Rugby (MLR). Founded in 2017, the 12- team MLR represents the top-level rugby championship competition in North America.
