Dallas Desperados News Release

The Dallas Desperados announced Thursday the free agent signing of wide receiver Marcus Nash. Nash comes to Dallas with four seasons of Arena Football experience under his belt after spending the previous three seasons (2004-06) with the Las Vegas Gladiators and his rookie season with the Detroit Fury (2003).

"Marcus has proven that he is one of the top wide receivers in the history of the AFL," Desperados head coach Will McClay said. "His abilities, his character and leadership will be a great addition to what we began to establish as an organization last year. His signing will give Clint (Dolezel) and our offense another top flight weapon. Fans should look for more fireworks from the Desperados this season."

Nash spent two of his three years in Las Vegas with current Desperados quarterback Clint Dolezel, posting back-to-back 1,700+ receiving yard seasons and 87 total touchdowns. Nash was named the league's Offensive Player of the Year following the 2004 season.

"We knew the history of Marcus Nash and the success he has had in the Arena Football League," said Desperados COO Shy Anderson. "He was the league's Player of the Year once, he has been named Player of the Month several times, and our number one priority this offseason was to team him back up with Clint Dolezel. This should make us the number one team to beat in 2007. If our fans thought we were an offensive powerhouse last year, buckle up."

Before heading indoors, Nash was the 30th overall selection in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. As a rookie, he was a member of the Broncos Super Bowl XXXIII championship team. He was traded to the Miami Dolphins at the beginning of the 1999 season but was released a week later. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens Oct. 25, 1999 and saw action in two games. His contract expired following the 1999 season, but he was re-signed by Baltimore on Nov. 9, 2000. He was inactive for the remainder of the season and through the Ravens Super Bowl XXXV run.

Nash enjoyed a prolific collegiate career, leaving Tennessee as the school's second ranked receiver with 177 receptions for 2,447 yards and 20 touchdowns. He broke school records for receptions (77), receiving yards (1,170) and touchdowns (13) in a season as a senior.
