Dallas Desperados News Release
The Dallas Desperados launch their annual Impact Player Program with a visit to Children's Medical Center Dallas on Monday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. WR/DB Bobby Keyes, WR/DB Jacoby Shepherd and WR/LB Chris Brown along with members of the Dallas Desperados Dance Team are scheduled to visit with the hospital's young patients, stopping by playrooms to sign autographs, distribute stickers, participate in arts-and-crafts projects and engage the children in conversation.
The visits are part of the Desperados Impact Player Program, which strives to be a positive influence in the lives of Dallas-area children. Initiated by Desperados head coach Will McClay in 2003, the Impact Player Program continues to spread positive influence and goodwill throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. Throughout the 2007 Arena Football season, Dallas Desperados players, dancers and coaches will make monthly appearances at local children's hospitals and spend time with youth participating in after school programs at various Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas locations.
"We welcome the opportunity to give back to the community that continues to support us," said McClay. "We acknowledge that the Desperados have a unique role to make a difference and we are devoted to working with a variety of charities, schools and civic groups in order to make a positive impact across the Metroplex."
Children's Medical Center Dallas is one of the largest pediatric providers in the nation and is ranked one of the top 25 pediatric hospitals in the country by U.S.News and World Report. Children's is the only academic hospital in North Texas dedicated exclusively to the comprehensive care of children from birth to age 18, and is the only pediatric hospital in the Southwest with a designated Level I trauma center.
