Dallas Desperados News Release
DALLAS, Texas - The Dallas Desperados placed WR Andrae Thurman (5-11, 190) on the Reserve/Injured list and signed QB Jason Fife (6-4, 225) to the active roster.
Fife enters his second stint in the Arena Football League after playing with the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2006. During that season, Fife played in 11 games with 11 starts and completed 207-of-357 passes (58.0%) for 2,221 yards with 41 touchdowns to 13 interceptions. He also led the team in rushing with 49 attempts for 178 yards (3.6 avg.) with a team-high 12 touchdowns.
Fife has limited NFL experience, splitting time on the practice squads of both the New Orleans Saints and Washington Redskins in 2007. In 2006, he spent time on both the Saints practice squad and active roster where he was signed for four games but was inactive in each one. Fife was allocated to the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe in 2005 by the Minnesota Vikings where he completed 12-of-21 passes (57.1%) with no touchdowns and one interception. He originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions in 2004.
Fife played collegiately at Oregon where he threw for 3,702 yards and 30 touchdowns in his career.
Thurman suffered a broken hand in the season-opener at Georgia (3/1) and did not record any stats. He finished the 2007 season with 65 receptions for 839 yards with 19 touchdowns as an AFL rookie.
The Dallas Desperados face the Columbus Destroyers in the team's home-opener on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. (CST) at the American Airlines Center.
