
'Dads Drop Exhibition 7-5 to LR Bears

Hickory, NC - The Hickory Crawdads kick-started their season for the second straight year with a friendly, exhibition game against Lenoir-Rhyne University Monday night, with the visiting Bears rallying late to hand the 'Dads a 7-5 loss at L.P. Frans Stadium.
The Bears struck early with two runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings while the Crawdads plated a run in the 1st as well for an early 4-1 score. The 'Dads rallied for one run in the 4th frame and two more tallies in the 5th to tie the contest at 4-4.
The score remained deadlocked until the 9th, when Bears senior first baseman Colby Dishmond lined a solo home run to right-center field to put LR ahead 5-4. Lenoir-Rhyne tacked on two more runs in the frame before the Crawdads answered with one in the bottom of the 9th for the final 7-5 score.
The Crawdads are off both Tuesday and Wednesday before they begin the defense of their South Atlantic League Championship on Thursday, April 7th in Kannapolis. The 'Dads will play four games in Kannapolis and three in Greensboro before the club returns to Hickory for their home opener against the Intimidators on Thursday, April 14th.
