November 28, 2006 - NBA G League (G League)
Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

LOS ANGELES, Calif.- The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League and the Bakersfield Jam met for the second time in three days for another nail biter 96-92 D-Fender victory.

The tight game featured 11 lead changes and a two-point margin at the half, but the D-Fenders once again stiffened the Bakersfield offense to hang on to their 3-0 winning streak.

D-Fenders Guard Chet Mason scored 18 points off the bench to lead Los Angeles, going 7 for 11 from the field. Andre Patterson had 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in reserve.

Guard Mike Dean led Bakersfield with 19 points in 28 minutes of play. Forward Kevinn Pinkney grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the Jam on the glass.

Los Angeles trailed 86-80 late in the fourth quarter when newly acquired guard Brian Chase caught fire. Chase dominated the quarter with a key steal and a crucial three pointer to put the D-Fenders ahead for good. Chase had 9 points in the quarter leading to his 14 for the game.

"He's going to be a big part of this team. Brian made the big 3-point shot and he did a great job," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.

Center Aloysius Anagonye sealed the victory in the closing moments with a hanging fade away and then a vital offensive rebound on the ensuing possession. Anagonye finished the contest with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

Bakersfield was outrebounded by Los Angeles 92-64 in the second game of the series.

"It came down to the last five minutes of the game and to who was going to execute. We turned the ball over too much and we need to continue to work on our defense," said Jam assistant coach Ike Austin.

Undefeated, this weekend Los Angeles will hit the road traveling to Colorado to meet the 14ers and then to Fort Worth for a match-up with the Flyers. The D-Fenders return to STAPLES Center on December 4 at 3:30pm to host Sioux Falls.

On July 31st of this year the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
