Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

EL SEGUNDO, CA - Los Angeles forward Stephane Lasme's strong fourth quarter paved the way for a 117-101 D-Fenders victory over the visiting Bakersfield Jam on Sunday afternoon at STAPLES Center

Lasme recorded 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks in the final quarter, finishing the night with his second consecutive double-double with 16, 15 and 5 respectively. The D-Fenders (7-3) out rebounded the Jam 55-42 on their way to their 4th consecutive win. Bakersfield dropped to 2-10 on the season.

"Solid defense definitely makes the game a lot easier, because you don't have to rely on your offense all the time," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio. "But when you get your offense rolling like we did, it's pretty good."

Los Angeles capitalized on their tenacious defense early in the second quarter, opening with a 10-0 run. D-Fenders guard Brian Chase came off the bench to score 17 points and dish out six assists. Coby Karl, on assignment from the Los Angeles Lakers, finished the game strong scoring 13 of his team-high 21 points in the final quarter; he also grabbed eight boards and had five assists.

Bakersfield was led by point guard, Andre Barrett. Barrett scored a team-high 27 points eight assists in 42 minutes of action. Fellow backcourt mate Scooter McFadgon added 17 for the Jam.

"The D-Fenders have some guys that can rebound a little bit," said Jam Head Coach Jim Harrick. "They never had that before. Stephane Lasme was the difference today. He really makes them pretty good and they just played better."

The D-Fenders will travel to Iowa on Thursday to take on the Energy for the first time in franchise history. The Jam will head back to Bakersfield to face division rival, Idaho Stampede.
