D-Fenders Ram the Bighorns in Reno

BOISE, ID - The Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Reno Bighorns 131-118 at the Reno Events Center on Friday night.

In the first quarter, the D-Fenders (11-8) allowed the Bighorns (11-10) to shoot 61.1 percent from the field, but forced Reno into six turnovers and never allowed the Bighorns to hold a lead. The second period proved to be a high-scoring affair, with both teams combining for 75 points and hitting over 60 percent from the field. Although Reno outscored Los Angeles by three in the second quarter, the D-Fenders managed to hold a slim two-point advantage at halftime. Overall, the D-Fenders shot 53.2 percent and connected on nine three-point field goals in the first half.

The D-Fenders defense made their presence known in the third quarter by holding Reno to nine of 20 from the field. Los Angeles would finish the half on a 12-2 run to extend their lead to nine entering the final period of play. Andre Ingram started the fourth quarter with a three-point field goal that pushed the D-Fenders lead to 12 points. Los Angeles would lead by double-digits throughout the entire final twelve minutes and claim their 11th win of the year.

Terrence Williams led the D-Fenders with a season-high 28 points and eight assists. In addition, James Southerland finished with 25 points, nine rebounds and five steals to join Josiah Turner (18 points), Brandon Costner (17 points) and Andre Ingram (13 points) in double-digits for Los Angeles.

The Bighorns were paced by Sacramento Kings assignment player Ray McCallum (21 points), K.C. Rivers (20 points), Trent Lockett (11 points) and Mo Charlo (10 points, 7 rebounds). DeQuan Jones (22 points) and Brandon Heath (11 points) also pitched in strong efforts off of the bench for Reno.

In total, the D-Fenders set season-highs in field goal percentage (55.7) and three-point field goals (19). In addition, their 131-point effort was only two points off of their season-best mark of 133. On the night, Los Angeles held the edge in field goal percentage (55.7-50.6), assists (29-20), steals (10-7) and blocks (7-5).

Los Angeles travels back home to take on the Tulsa 66ers tomorrow at 6:30pm at the Toyota Sports Center, in El Segundo, California.
