D-Fenders Outrun Stampede

EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders never trailed and were tied only twice with the Idaho Stampede in a 107-94 win at Toyota Sports Center on Monday night.

Los Angeles (14-19) started the game with one of its best quarters all season, scoring 25 points and limiting the Stampede to just 15 points (opponent first quarter low). Leading by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, the D-Fenders drove their lead to 58-43 at halftime and gripped to a 13-point advantage heading in the final frame. After beginning the fourth quarter on an 8-0 run to go up by 21, the D-Fenders were able to hold on down the stretch for the victory.

Morris Almond tallied his most points since getting traded to the D-Fenders (33 points, 7 rebounds), Courtney Fortson nearly missed the fifth triple-double in team history (22 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists), and Elijah Millsap scored in double-figures (17 points, 6 rebounds) on the evening. Additionally, Gary Flowers pitched in a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and newly acquired center Jerome Jordan posted 10 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks for the D-Fenders.

Idaho (10-22) was guided by Justin Holiday (31 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals), Durrell Summers (20 points, 6 rebounds) and Sean Evans (19 points, 13 rebounds [13th double-double of season]). Coby Karl also contributed 14 points, seven rebounds and eight assists for the Stampede, which shot 2-of-21 from three-point range.
