Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-fenders of the NBA Development League fell to the Albuquerque Thunderbirds this afternoon 95-89 at STAPLES Center, snapping their five game home winning streak.

There were 15 lead changes in the tight contest, but Albuquerque pulled away in the second half by outscoring Los Angeles 25-18 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

"I thought that our determination was the difference in the ballgame. We played hard. It was a very well played game and I'm glad that we came out on top," said Thunderbirds Head Coach Michael Cooper.

Albuquerque was led by guard Julius Hodge and center Andreas Glyniadakis. Hodge had a game high 32 points and 14 assists. Glyniadakis scored 24 points to go along with his 9 rebounds.

Los Angeles had 5 players in double figures. Forward Andre Patterson led the D-Fenders with 17 points on 8-13 shooting. Los Angeles center Wesley Wilson added 12 points and 7 boards off the bench.

"We're getting down to the stretch of the season and we need to play better defense in games like this. We didn't rebound the ball very well and we let Albuquerque shoot 46% from the field," said D-Fenders Head Coach Dan Panaggio.

The D-Fenders are now tied with the Thunderbirds (19-21 .475) for third place in the Western Conference. Albuquerque leads the series 2-3.

This Sunday, March 18 the D-Fenders host the Fort Worth Flyers at STAPLES Center, before the Lakers game with a 1:00pm tip off.

Having a Lakers ticket for a STAPLES Center home game is also your ticket to a lower level seat for the D-Fenders. Lakers season ticket holders who attend a D-Fenders home game will receive a special gift, while supplies last, by visiting the Season Ticket Holder Booth on the main concourse at the Figueroa Street Entrance.
