
D-Fenders Announce Training Camp Roster and Schedule

EL SEGUNDO- The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League announced today their 2006-07 Training Camp roster and schedule. Training Camp will begin on Saturday, November 11 at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, CA. The Training Camp roster includes the 10 players selected in the 2006 D-League Draft, four players from the 2006 D-League Expansion Draft, two league allocated players, and a local tryout invitee.
Two practices are scheduled each day during the first seven days of Training Camp: 8am-10am and 3pm-5pm. For the remaining days of camp, until opening day, there will be a single morning practice.
"We are ready to go," said Head Coach Dan Panaggio. "We've been preparing for quite sometime and we all want to get started. This will be an exciting first season for the team."
The D-Fenders will have to make two cuts to the roster during Training Camp. The first cut on November 15 will take the roster from 17 to 12 players. The second cut on November 22 will set the roster for Opening Day at 10 players.
The last 30 minutes of each practice session of the D-Fenders Training Camp will be open to the media for viewing. Head Coach Dan Panaggio, Assistant Coach Chuck Brown, and all players will be available for media opportunities at the conclusion of each practice session. The Los Angeles D-Fenders open the 2006-07 season on the road on November 24 in Anaheim and then debut at home on the hardwood at STAPLES Center on November 28 at 3:30 p.m. against San Joaquin Valley rivals the Bakersfield Jam.
On July 31st of this year the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders will play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
