Cyclones Shutout Barracudas to Win Second Straight
The Jacksonville Barracudas traveled to Florence, South Carolina on Friday night seeking to advance their lead over the Cyclones in the playoff race. However, due to solid goaltending by Pee Dee's Leni DiCostanzo, the Cyclones closed the doors on Jacksonville, 5-0.
Geoff Rollins got on board quickly with a goal eighteen seconds into play. The Cyclones fought off Jacksonville for the remainder of the period, leaving the score 0-1 going into the second.
Daryl Moore and Marcus Reszka both scored in the second, Reszka's goal coming short-handed, to put Pee Dee up by three going into the final period.
Drew Madeiros added another to the Cyclones' total at the 0:46 mark of the third. Nick Cammarata soon followed with his first goal in a Cyclones' uniform giving the Cyclones' the 5-0 win.
DiCostanzo was perfect on the night with 47 saves on 47 shots; the first shutout of his career.
The Cyclones will travel north to Fayetteville Saturday night to face the FireAntz. Game time is set for 7:30PM at the Crown Coliseum.
