Twin City Cyclones News Release
Mark Richards, Head Coach and General Manager of the SPHL's Twin City Cyclones, is announcing the completion of a trade with the Richmond Renegades. Twin City will send defenseman Jozef Kubaliak and the rights of Martin Kubaliak in return for centers Don Melnyk and Ryan Webb. "With the loss of Jason Cassells and the retirement of John Gurskis, we felt we needed to pick up some high-profile centermen. We hope this trade will achieve this goal," commented Richards. Melnyk, a native of The Pas, Manitoba, has spent the previous two seasons with the Renegades. The 22-year old appeared in 97 games and added 78 points over the two seasons. The 5'-10" center has also spent time in the Central Hockey League (CHL) with the Laredo Bucks. Webb has been on the Jacksonville Barracudas' roster for the past three seasons where he played in 141 games and posted 203 points. He has also visited the UHL (United Hockey League) with the Flint Generals. The 26-year old was acquired by Richmond during the Jacksonville dispersal draft earlier this year. The Cyclones will send Jozef Kubaliak to the Renegades, along with the rights of his brother, Martin. Jozef played in 52 games and posted 186 penalty minutes last season. Martin had three stops in the CHL and one in the ECHL during the 2007-08 season. Twin City acquired Martin's rights in 2007 through a trade with the Huntsville Havoc.
