Cyclones Add Defense with FireAntz Trade

July 3, 2007 - SPHL (SPHL)
Twin City Cyclones News Release

The Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League announced Monday that they have confirmed a trade deal with the Fayetteville FireAntz. The Cyclones will send veteran forward Edan Welch in return for defenseman Dylan Row.

"We were seeking to upgrade our defense with Dylan," commented Mark Richards, Head Coach and General Manager of the Cyclones. "We believed this deal to be in the best interests of the Team, even though it was a difficult decision. Edan (Welch) has been an instrumental part of the Cyclones for the past two years and he will be missed. We wish him the best in the future."

Row, a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, added in 41 points for the FireAntz in the regular season, with another six during the 2006-2007 playoffs. The 5'-11", 195 pound blue-liner, was called up to the Port Huron Flags of the United Hockey League for a seven-game stint last season. Row played college hockey for two seasons with Brown University.

Welch, former assistant captain of the Cyclones, totaled 75 points last season for Pee Dee.
