
Cutthroats Suffer First Home Loss of the Season

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats returned to the Denver Coliseum after a five-game road series to face the Arizona Sundogs on Tuesday, November 12. The Cutthroats suffered their first home loss in overtime to the Sundogs, 4-3 Arizona.
The evening opened with a ceremonial puck drop by the Pike Hotshots Crew from Monument, Colorado to honor and remember the 19 members of the Prescott Granite Mountain Hotshots who courageously lost their lives on June 30, 2013. In the opening period, the Sundogs Jordan Clendenning (Bryan Cameron, Dion Campbell) put the first goal on the board to give Arizona the lead 1-0.
The Denver Cutthroats matched the Arizona Sundogs goal 16 minutes into the second period. On Denver's power play, Robin Soudek (Cam Reid, Lee Moffie) made his fifth goal of the season for the Cutthroats to tie the score at 1. Minutes later, Denver took the lead as A.J. Gale (Garett Bembridge, Troy Schwab) found the back of the Sundogs net for the Cutthroats second power play goal of the night. Arizona responded with a goal by Paul McIlveen (Cameron, Jeff Buvinow) to tie the score at 2-2 and close the period.
Arizona took the lead in the third period with a backhanded shot from McIlveen (Kevin Baker, Jason Morgan). Denver's Michael Schumacher (Gale, Steve Kaunisto) tied the score 3-3 and sent the game into overtime. For his second goal of the night, Jordan Clendenning clinched the win for the Arizona Sundogs 4-3.
The Denver Cutthroats will face the Quad City Mallards for a two-game home series on Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16 at the Denver Coliseum. This will be the second two-game series in one week between the Cutthroats and Mallards. Denver will continue to salute the military during the upcoming games as Cutthroats founding partner and official soft drink beverage partner, Pepsi, will be handing out 1,000 megaphones on Saturday, November 16 to help fans voice their support for the military.
