
Sundogs Snap Skid, Win 4-3

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs snapped their losing skid in a 4-3 overtime victory against the Denver Cutthroats at the Denver Coliseum Tuesday night.
The Sundogs kept pressure on the Cutthroats in the opening period, outshooting Denver, 10-7 and posting the lone goal of the period. Arizona found their selves on a 5-on-3 man advantage for 1:14 after Vincent Arseneau was called for slashing and Jean-Philipp Chabot was issued two minutes for roughing. However, the Sundogs were unable to convert their power play opportunity. Halfway through the period Jordan Clendenning scored on a rebound shot, his fourth of the season and his third in two games putting the Sundogs on the board. Bryan Cameron and Dion Campbell both collected the assists.
At the end of 40 minutes of play both teams were tied with two goals, and each team registering the goals while on the power play. Denver would temporarily pull ahead after scoring two power play goals within two minutes of each other. Robin Soudek and AJ Gale each notched a goal for the Cutthroats. Paul Mcilveen would answer back 1:01 later with a power play goal of his own after Vincent Arseneau was sent to the box for elbowing. A total of 11 offenses, resulting in 22 penalty minutes were issued in the second period.
Arizona's, Clendenning scored the game winner in overtime after the game was left undecided after three periods of play. The Sundogs would score 9:51 into the third period with a goal by Mcilveen his second of the night with assists from Kevin Baker and Jason Morgan. Unable to hold off the Cutthroats they posted the equalizer with under five minutes remaining in the game with a shot from Michael Schumacher forcing the game into overtime. Clendenning found his chance after Garrett Bembridge turned over the puck in their own zone allowing Clendenning to collect an unassisted goal, breaking the Sundogs' eight game losing skid.
Andrew Engelage tallied his second win of the season for the Sundogs blocking 29 out of 32 shots. Arizona was 1-8 on the power play and Denver was 2-7. The Sundogs outshot the Cutthroats 35-32.
Arizona continues their 12-day road trip wrapping up their final two games on the road against the new expansion team the St. Charles Chill. This will be their first meeting of the season. The Sundogs return home to play five games beginning on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Tim's Toyota Center.
