
Cutthroats Flounder against Mavericks

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Missouri Mavericks at the Denver Coliseum for the final game in the 2013-14 regular season series on Saturday, February 22. The Mavericks caught stride in the second period to take the Cutthroats in a 6-3 victory.
T.J. Fox (Sean Zimmerman, J.P. Chabot) lit up the lamp for the first goal of the night to give the Cutthroats a 1-0 lead in the opening period.
Mavericks Mathieu Gagnon (John-Scott Dickson, Trevor Kell) tied the score at one with a shot through the Cutthroats posts. With 53 seconds remaining in the second period, Mike Ramsay (Matt Stephenson, Eric Castonguay) found the back of the Cutthroats net to give the Missouri Mavericks a 2-1 lead.
Colt King (Anders Franzon, Kell) scored the Maverick's third consecutive goal of the night to put the score at 3-1. Denver's Troy Schwab (Garett Bembridge, A.J. Gale) cut the deficit by one with a shot into Missouri's cage. Evan Vossen (Kell) poked the puck under the glove of Cutthroats netminder Kent Patterson to extend the Mavericks lead 4-2. Kyle Fletcher (Cam Reid, Lee Moffie) tipped the puck into the net for the Denver Cutthroats final goal of the night. Moments after the Cutthroats first successful penalty kill of the night, Andrew Courtney (Vossen, Obi Aduba) fired a shot for the Mavericks fifth goal of the game. Mike Ramsay scored on the Cutthroats empty to make the score 6-3 and seal the Mavericks victory.
The Denver Cutthroats will hit the road on Friday, February 28 to face off with the Rapid City Rush at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Cutthroats will return to the Denver Coliseum to host the Rush for a two-game weekend series on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2.
