Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Crosscutters fell 4-3 at the Auburn Doubledays on Tuesday evening in the opener of a six-game road-trip and three game series. Rudy Rott's long fly to the corner in left was caught at the wall as Williamsport left the tying and go-ahead runners on base.

Williamsport trailed 4-0 before a three-run rally in the 8th closed the deficit. The Cutters out-hit the Doubledays 9-4 and produced at least one runner in all nine innings while ultimately stranding 13.

The Crosscutters bullpen was stellar retiring 17 out of 18 batters over 5.2ip from the end of the third all the way to the eighth. Michael Gomez (1.2ip, 0h), Rafael Carvajal (3ip, 1h, 2so) and Blake Bennett (1ip, a perfect 8th ) combined to keep Williamsport in the game.

Juan Aparicio's towering double that fell in the right field corner in the 8th inning extended his hitting streak to seven games. Aparicio is now tied for the league-lead in doubles (5) and extra-base hits (6).

Logan O'Hoppe went 3-for-4 with an rbi double and a run scored.

All four of Auburn's runs came in the first three innings on a pair of RBI singles by Onyx Vegas who drove in the entirety of the team's scoring.

Williamsport lost its seventh straight game.
